Doing isometrics can build up strength in the embouchure, however they can provide limited contribution to the flexibility and speed of your embouchure. The speed of the embouchure is how fast you can form your embouchure from a relaxed state into the playing shape. This can be compared to a body build who only builds bulky muscles and does not care about flexible, agility and speed. He might be strong, but he cannot move fast.
One way to work on this flexibility in the embouchure is to rapidly alternate the shape of your embouchure in its two extreme positions, one is like when you are saying "eeeee" and smiling exaggeratedly , and the other is like when you are saying "ouuuu", and pushing your muscle towards the center. Rapidly alternating between those two positions is like a runner doing sprints, and isometrics are like body builders building muscle mass. They work your embouchure muscles in different ways, and I believe working on both of them will help the student develop a strong yet fast embouchure.
